about the artist

Nicholas Collins is a British studio glass artist, designer based in the north of england his work is inspired by optical illusion and he uses this theme to produce interior accessories and table top centre pieces which are playful and functional. He produces designs in very limited quantities as editions, quality crafted pieces using kiln forming glass techniques. He primarily uses opaque and semi translucent glass which are notably complex to work with. His designs are formed over a number of days firing in a glass kiln at temperatures around 800 dc to form his designs. Each piece is finished by hand using diamond tools to create a soft polished edge and many pieces are signed. His philosophy is to produce exceptionally designed pieces, creating objects that bring together both function and visual appeal with a permanent value.
